Changsha’s research footprint just got a global credential. He Binsheng, president of Changsha Medical University, has been named to the 2026 World’s Top 2% Scientists list, jointly released by Stanford University and Elsevier — an annual ranking that screens nearly 10 million scientists worldwide for citation impact and recent output.
Changsha Medical University, a private medical undergraduate institution in Changsha, has quietly built a distinctive research identity. Three disciplines — clinical medicine, pharmacology & toxicology, and chemistry — have all entered the ESI global top 1%. Under He’s lead, a provincial key lab is turning Pieris japonica, a toxic wild shrub, into green bio-pesticides, while TCM-based feeds and fertilizers have cut antibiotic residues in food by over 65% and heavy metals in soil and water by more than 70%.
